Losing my blog virginity

I started creating this blog in early February 2017, but I had been thinking about doing it for years before that (aka I can be super efficient at procrastinating when I really put my mind to it).

I've always wanted to start a wellness blog, but the many components of that always overwhelmed me. So, I decided to focus solely on food blogging to start - and voilà, "Zakiya's Kitchen" was born. (Disclaimer: I almost named my blog "Coconuts and Kombucha"...still can't decide if that was super cheesy or if I've made a grave error and will regret not taking ownership of that domain down the road).

I'm pretty tech savvy, but creating a website and even writing this blog post opened my eyes to a whole new world (cue Aladdin soundtrack) of technology. When my brother asked me if the platform I was using for this site required "coding", I stared at him blankly until he started laughing and walked away. That should give you a pretty clear picture of how inexperienced I am when it comes to all this.

But in all honesty, I'm pretty proud of myself for creating this little website, and I'm so excited to keep tweaking and tinkering with it everyday! Growing up, I was a pretty creative person, and I feel like my foray into adulting had put that on hold for a very long time...so I'm very much looking forward to sharing content that I am passionate about on this platform, which includes:

- photography
- cooking
- baking
- nutrition
- writing
- fitness
- wellness

Thanks for following along! xo
